Disney has tapped Race to Witch Mountain's Andy Fickman to direct Monster Attack Network. Based on the 2007 comic book published by AIT/Planet Lar, written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman and illustrated by Nima Sorat, Disney already has writing duo Scott Elder and Josh Harmon working on adapting the property. While the comic told the story of an elite emergency responce team assigned to protect the Pacific island nation of Lapuatu from attacks by giant monsters that come ashore, Disney is retooling the screen story so that the team is American and protects U.S. coasts from incoming monsters. The project is considered to be a tentpole franchise and will require considerable visual effects. [Full story]
