Kevin Costner will star in, direct and produce A Little War of Our Own, an action-adventure set during the Second World War. In the film Costner will play the sheriff of a small town who has to find a way from stopping his neighbors and friends from escalating a situation into violence. While the logline is very general, we can learn something more from what likely sets events in motion by what Variety mentions in their coverage of the project: the second lead role is that of a German U-boat commander.

Beacon Pictures is financing the movie, their fourth project with Costner. "This has been a dream project for Kevin and I for years," said producer Armyan Bernstein. "The themes are timeless - war, peace and reconciliation. The canvas is epic - look at the movies Kevin has directed."

Filming is scheduled to commence in the fall.
