Word breaks of a new project being developed at Will Smith's production company, Overbrook Entertainment, with the fresh prince attached to play the lead role as well as produce. The film is called The Legend of Cain and would see Smith play the first murderer, the son of Adam that slew his brother over jealousy in the Old Testament. The movie puts a spin on the tale by giving it a "vampiric twist", as Deadline describes.

The script is by Caleeb Pinkett and Dan Knauf, with revisions provided by Andrea Berloff. Producing are Smith and his wife Jada, Overbrook partner James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz.
