A new comedy being made by CBS Films called Last Vegas is now slated to go into production early in 2010. Hannah Montana: The Movie and Shall We Dance director Peter Chelsom has just climbed aboard to direct the new comedy. The script is by Dan Fogelman (Fred Claus) and the film will be produced by Laurence Mark (Julie & Julia).
The story follows what happens when four sixty-something baby boomer men decide to celebrate the impending loss of bachelorhood for the final members of their group. "I don't think I fit a category in terms of the movies I direct, but this was a great script by Dan Fogelman," Chelsom told Variety about his new project. "These are four guys from Coney Island, who, when we meet them, think they are invincible. I think the film should attract four great stars in that age range."
Chelsom also told the trade that while there's some crossover between the idea of Last Vegas and this summer's colossal hit comedy The Hangover, it's the latter that helps him sell his movie to studio people looking for a film to bankroll.
