The Hollywood Reporter breaks the story that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined the cast of Inception. He's playing the part that was to have gone to James Franco but the latter actor had to depart over scheduling problems with another show. Another new actor to the project but not to working with director Christopher Nolan is Cillian Murphy; Murphy played The Scarecrow in the last two Batman films that Nolan directed.

THR also beefs up a little of what kind of characters the announced cast members are playing in this ultra-secretive project. Gordon-Levitt is playing an "associate" friend of Leonardo DiCaprio's CEO-type character; Ellen Page's character is a graduate student and "sidekick" to Leo; and Marion Cotillard is the wife of DiCaprio.
