Kristen Wiig will shoot the comedy Imogene before resuming her duties on the new season of Saturday Night Life. The indie production is set to start filming next week on August 8 in New York City.

Wiig plays a playwright who, in a dark moment, decides to fake a suicide attempt to win back the affection of her ex-boyfriend. Her plan works, but as a part of the conditioning of her release from medical supervision, the writer's mother must now assume responsibility for her daughter. That means Wiig's character has to move back home with her mother, a gambling-addicted New Jersey mama whose culture and sensibilities are as far removed from her daughter's New York culture as they can get.

In her first starring role, Wiig's Bridesmaids became one of this summer's biggest hits. The Universal comedy has earned more than $165 million dollars domestically.
