Fandango debuted the North American poster for The Host, still on track for its March 29, 2013. The tagline that Open Road Films chose for the poster certainly evokes the same fantasy romance element that Meyer's other series, the Twilight saga, used to its advantage.

Nanny McPhee Returns director Susanna White is now attached to call action on The Host movie, reports trade magazine Variety.
While Variety doesn't elaborate as to why Andrew Niccol left the director's chair, his script for the film is still the draft being used right now. As reported in our September 2009 news entry, Niccol was a favored director of The Host creator Stephanie Meyer. Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz remain as producers on the movie.

Film rights for Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's The Host have been sold to producers Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz. Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord of War) will adapt Meyer's novel and direct the movie.
Meyer's first adult novel is set in a world where almost every human being's body has been taken over by alien entities called "Souls". These intangible beings drop into the human body and then remove the personality of its owner. Meyer's heroine is a young woman who is fighting to rid a Soul that calls itself Wanderer that has entered her body.
The three producers purchased the screen rights to Meyer's novel and are developing the movie independently of the studio system. [Full story]
