The new Harry Potter film may be arriving in standard theaters on July 14 but for those planning on seeing the movie on an IMAX screen there will be a bit of a delay. Half-Blood Prince won't start playing on the larger screens until July 29, two full weeks after the picture has its public unveiling, because the screens are booked for Paramount's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. While Warner Bros. is playing up that there will be 12 minutes worth of 3-D footage that can only be seen on IMAX, the announcement of the delay dropped the stock value of the movie studio slightly.
"There will obviously be some consumers that choose to wait for the Imax version with its 3-D scenes or will choose to see it for a second time, but we no not believe this will be enough to offset the negative impact from the move," said Merriman Curhan Ford analyst Eric Wold.
