Mandalay Pictures is developing a live-action feature film based on the popular Japanese manga series Full Metal Panic. Created by writer Shoji Gatoh and illustrator Shiki Douji, Full Metal Panic fuses together several manga staples including teenage angst, wry humor, blossoming romance, heavy action and a dabbling of magic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, High School Musical star Zac Efron has expressed some interest in possibly starring in the western adaptation of the property. No screenwriter has yet been hired to find a way to adapt the manga's multiple storylines into a single movie narrative tailored for a western audience unfamiliar with the source material.
