Disney has moved its intended release date for Frankenweenie. Instead of coming out on March 9, 2012, the movie will now debut in the fall on October 5, 2012. Wasting no time to fill the spring slot, Disneybumped up the release date for John Carter of Mars from the summer to Frankenweenie's former 3/9/12 slot.

Four longtime collaborators of Tim Burton will provide character voices for Frankenweenie. Revealed to be in the cast are Winona Ryder (from Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, playing a character named Elsa), Martin Landau (Ed Wood, voicing Mr. Rzykruski), Catherine O'Hara (Beetlejuice, voicing four characters named Edgar, Weird Girl, Victor's Mom, and Gym Teacher) and Martin Short (Mars Attacks, and his characters are named Bob, Nassor, Toshiaki, Victor's Dad and Mr. Bergermeister.)
