Virginia Madsen (The Haunting in Connecticut, Sideways) has been cast as Kevin Spacey's ex-wife in the picture. When Spacey's inventor character gets released from prison he discovers that Madsen's character has since remarried and spent the remainder of his fortune.

Kevin Spacey has a new project that he'll star in and produce. Called Father of Invention, the actor will play an inventor who becomes a billionaire as well as an ego-centric giant. After one of his inventions causes him to lose all of his money, adulation and sends him on an eight-year stint in federal prison, the once-powerful thinker emerges from lock-up with a mission to rebuild his fortune and redeem himself in the public's eye.

The script was by Cooper and Jonathan Krane and Nichole Beattie and Trent Cooper will direct the comedy. Spacey and his Trigger Street Productions partner Dana Brunetti are producing. [Full story]
