The screen rights to Paco Ahlgren's debut novel Discipline have been picked up by Permut Presentations. The company's David Permut and Bee Holder Productions' Steve Lee Jones are producing along with Steve Longi from Permut in a co-producer capacity. A screenwriter hasn't been found to adapt the book yet.

Published in 2007, Ahlgren's novel has been likened to some of Philip K. Dick's mindbending sci-fi ideas. Incorporating quantum mechanics, determinism, parallel universes, eastern philosophy, metaphysics, the game of chess and several other heady ideas, the protagonist faces the challenge of determining what lies in the future for humanity.
