An offer has been made to Julianne Moore (Jurassic Park: The Lost World) to play the role of Margaret White, the fanatically religious mother of her telekinetic teenage daughter. It's unknown whether Moore has accepted or rejected the job.

A new movie based on Stephen King's first novel Carrie is in development at Screen Gems. First published in 1973 and then turned into a 1976 movie directed by Brian De Palma that starred Sissy Spacek as the troubled teen, the new Carrie movie project will be adapted by Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark playwrite Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
A sequel to the '76 film, titled Carrie: The Rage, was released in 1999, and a television remake was done in 2002. [Full story]
