Read an interview (I think in the LA TIMES) with this gentleman, really an amazing story. Hope this one makes it to the screen relatively intact, even if they have to give him spider powers to get the kids' asses in seats.

Sounds like a fascinating story, though I hope it's not overly dramatized for the sake of creating a "plot" in what is ostensibly a character exploration.
Also, Production Phase is far from "Completed," given that it was only recently purchased for development.
