In an interview with GQ magazine, Keanu Reeves educates us about what the storyline is for this proposed Bill & Ted 3 movie...
"One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it. So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock. And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us' refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life. In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."- GQ. Comment on this Scoop (0)

Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) has been selected as the director of the proposed third Bill & Ted movie. Vulture has the story, stating that while MGM owns the rights to the franchise, the producers are shopping it around to other studios in an attempt to woo them to co-finance the reasonably budgeted picture.
The site also states that the script (by original Bill & Ted writers/creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon) is done, and both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are also attached to star in it.- Vulture. Comment on this Scoop (0)

After years of being stuck in development molasses, there could actually be a completed Bill & Ted 3 screenplay done shortly. Keanu Reeves told MTV that a new draft for a proposed third movie is about six weeks away from being complete.
Reeves explained what the plot is. "When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened… So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."
There was no mention of who the writers are.
