We've got two different sets of spy photos from the recently-moved-to-NYC Avengers production to report to you today.
The first round of shots can be seen on the celeb gossip site Just Jared, and are high resolution pics of Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye running through debris. See the whole set here and that's a taste of what you can expect to your left.
The second set contains less action and rubble but more Avengers. Celeb buzz has got a portfolio of photos showing nearly all of the film's major characters including Thor, Loki, Tony Stark (out of his Iron Man armor), and Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye in their civvies. Look at those ones right here.- Just Jared, Celebuzz. Comment on this Scoop (0)

We've got three new spy videos to show you from the Cleveland set of The Avengers. Both are fun to watch and also impart ideas about some of the action scenes you'll witness in the superhero film.
The first is a video showing Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in a street battle. At first you will see the two actors rehearsing and preparing for the shot, followed by several takes of the action.
The second video shows Tom Hiddleson dressed up in his Loki costume, in a different scene where the Asgardian god of mischief is up to no good.
And in the third video you get to see some movie magic as Hemsworth strikes a stationary car with Thor's magical hammer Mjolnir. Boom!

Hundreds of tweets, photos and videos showing the downtown Cleveland action sequence that Joss Whedon is shooting for The Avengers have hit the Internet. Images showing Chris Evans in the new Captain America costume, Whedon calling action on set, big explosions rocking buildings and -- most curiously -- photos showing stunt actors wearing motion capture suits, like the kind used to replace their bodies with computer generated (CG) characters. Gets you wondering who else is going to be in the movie, right?
Also photographed was an extra holding what looks awfully like some kind of ray gun -- or alien weapon.
Videos of interest:
- The Army shooting at something:
- People running for their lives:
- Big explosions:
- Here's one showing Captain America standing on the roof of a car while an explosion goes off behind him:
- Finally, here's a great video showing a close-up of Captain America fighting two of the strangely suited mo-cap stunt actors. The one to your right has one of those funky weird weapons. OK, let's say who these guys probably are: space aliens. Skrulls?

Starting today, movie studios are hawking their upcoming releases at the Licensing International Expo. The hope of the studio owners is to attract international vendors to manufacture product tie-ins for the movies that are coming out in the next 12-24 months, like The Adventures of Tintin or Star Trek 2.
Marvel is presenting The Avengers and has one of the better pieces of marketing flypaper at the Expo. While most studios could only muster a logo of their property, Marvel assembled this collage of Avengers characters. In it we see an updated costume design for Captain America and a clear look at Hawkeye's get-up.- Collider. Comment on this Scoop (0)

Tomorrow, April 25, 2011, is the first day of filming The Avengers. We know this because today Joss Whedon told us.
The director made a very tongue-in-cheek post at Whedonesque today, acknowledging that tomorrow is D-Day for calling the shots on Marvel's biggest superhero movie to dates. "Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this," he writes.- Whedonesque. Comment on this Scoop (1)

An informant for The Wrap has said that Jeremy Renner will make a cameo in the Thor movie playing Hawkeye, the Marvel superheroic archer. Renner is a member of The Avengers cast, so it seems that his appearance in Thor serves much of the same purpose that Samuel L. Jackson's cameo at the end of the first Iron Man did to set up the larger Marvel movie universe.
How large Renner's role is in The Avengers wasn't revealed by the scooper.- The Wrap. Comment on this Scoop (0)

Mark Ruffalo is going to do something that no one's done before in any of the film versions of the Hulk: he's going to play the character as the green gamma giant. "I'm really excited. No one's ever played the Hulk exactly, they've always done CGI," Ruffalo explained to Vulture. "They're going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I'll actually play the Hulk. That'll be fun."
He also knows how he wants to play Bruce Banner, the human scientist that transformers into the Hulk. "I really love the first TV version of it, the Bill Bixby one. I'm gonna shoot for that a little bit. He was an everyman in it. He's always on the run and trying to find love. It's really a sympathetic character, before he turns into the Hulk and fucks everything up."- Vulture. Comment on this Scoop (0)

While he was supposed to be promoting his next movie, The Town, MTV went the fanboy hit whore route and asked Jeremy Renner what his Hawkeye costume was going to look like in The Avengers movie.
"I think it's going to be a little more reality-based," answered Renner, not lunging across the divide between himself and the MTV reporter. "You can kind of tell with Scarlett [Johansson]'s character [in Iron Man 2], it's going to be more of a uniform . . . and not a big purple, comics sort of thing."
At the namedrop of Johansson, MTV then followed by asking if Renner thinks Hawkeye and Black Widow will have some lip-locking time during the movie. "We will [have a relationship], I think, in this one as well," said Renner. "We're kind of a team, and what that relationship is, is still to be discovered."- MTV. Comment on this Scoop (0)
