Confirmation of original 21 Jump Street star Johnny Depp doing a cameo in the movie has just arrived. However, details on what Depp's cameo will be about, and whether he will be reprising his Jump Street character of Det. Tom Hansen, remain unknown. Depp starred in the Fox TV series for three seasons, from 1987 to 1990.

There's a rumor that Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe, Dear John) is starting to enter talks to star in the 21 Jump Street movie. He would be the second addition to the cast after Jonah Hill.

Fresh off her $18 million dollar opening weekend for Easy A, Emma Stone is now in the running for two roles at Sony Pictures. One is in the newly rebooted Spider-Man movie franchise, the other is in the 21 Jump Street movie. The latter production is now scheduled to start shooting in early '11.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the co-directors of Columbia's animated family film Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, are now in talks to helm 21 Jump Street. Jonah Hill (Superbad) and Mike Bacall's story remains in place and series creator Stephen J. Cannell and Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious) are still producing.
