I hate "Celebrity"

Posted by Daltons chin dimple on Monday, December 29, 2008

This ridiculous state we find ourselves in, with tabloid rumour mags and empty headed idiots who feel like they actually know these celebrities, has to stop. The celebrity obsession is a contributing factor to the decline of the Western World. Discuss ?

I will remain mute in this forum to honor the hatred of celebrity scandals, weddings, splits, etc..

Celeb stories that reach the fulcrum of craziness that Britney and Lohan reached in their respective prime are all well and good here, but I'm more apt to change the name to Hollywood Gossip as I would personally like to read comments about the ugliness of Hollywood execs, and the terrible decisions they make for our entertainment's sake on an hourly basis. Case in point, how Fox continues to exert themselves upon the viewing public with new levels of stupid. Heck, the whole studio's become the new drunk Lohan! Got any stories? Bring em on. Feed my rant mojo. I dare you.

I agree there Traz man, Hollywood Gossip would offer a more encompassing thread and be able to cover the "general"stupidity of Hollywood. Of which there seems to be sadly little of this week. 8(

I like the way that you are all thinking. Here's the good news: I've already made CA's news dep't just like the way that you're thinking.

Celebrity is the catch-all word that covers everything to do with a person working in showbiz that appears in front of the cameras or photogs. Industry is the category where I cover Hollywood's business, so if a movie studio hires/fires someone or the actors go on strike, it goes under that category.

I'm still wrapping my head around the way that I want to report celebrity news. I could very easily write 4-5 celeb stories a day, and mostly they would consist of "Here's what so and so is wearing," or who they've been spotted with. I'm not sure that I want to do that. Maybe I would be more inclined to do that if I can up with a unique, biting way of reporting that kind of news, like the way The Superficial does it and they practically make fun of the reader, the subject of the news story and sometimes their own site. Celeb stories are generally so fluffy and shallow that I think it may be a good idea to write about them in a tongue-in-cheek way.

But here's the thing: when a death comes along, like Heath Ledger, that shouldn't be dealt with tongue-in-cheek. I've seen Perez Hilton write stories about serious subjects and he acts like an emotionally and intellectually stunted pre-schooler. I hate it. I think it's disrespectful.

Don't be surprised to see the way that CA reports celeb stories to morph around in the coming months as I find the right groove for the way I want to present these stories, but always remember the site's primary focus will be on reporting movie news and adding new info to the database pages.

No matter where you go, there you are.

It's not so bad. Kenneth Branagh pulls off a decent Woody.

(That looks suggestive.)

I'm curious to know what stupidity went on behind closed doors that lead to the cancellation of Prison Break. That's right. The final 6 episodes of this season will be the final six episodes of the series just so they can go out on a "creative high point" (their words) rather than properly finish the story they've worked so long and hard to build.

I came here to bitch about the fact that this forum exists, but after Pat's ever eloquent retort to the question as yet unasked, I will hold my tongue.
I mostly loathe the fact that anyone can place any other human on such a pedestle so as to care about what their "new look" might be. But if this forum is to discuss choices and decisions of the people we so respect for bringing us our favorite pasttime, then I have no gripe.

I just think "Celebrity Gossip" is a little misleading in that case. :)

I care about seeing Kah's "new look" every time she gets a new pair of 'fuck me' shoes!
