I'm like 3/4 (or more) of the way through Clash of Kings.  HOLY CRAP!  GRRM doesn't shy away from killing off important characters (and/or kids).  Will there be anything left of House Stark before this is over?

On the plus side, we don't have to suffer through Rickon's crying fits anymore!

Winter is Coming has 15 new videos, focusing on characters and houses, that have gone up on a couple of different sites, though one or more fans has put them on youtube for everybody's convenience.  Three are embedded, with the other twelve linked below.

Joss Rolls Royce Whedon and Jorge Ricardo Rodriguez Martinez like to sit in a tiny, windowless room together and write stories about the main characters of popular narratives getting murdered in inventive and surprising ways.  

My favorite is the one where Luke Skywalker lighsabers his own heart when he goes to check the time.  Leia warned him not to keep his watch on his dominant wrist.  Serves him right.  (Right, as opposed to left.  And all that's left is a dingy Jedi hoodie.)

30 days.

This is pretty nifty.

An author's first read of GoT

I think one of the videos I posted in the trailers thread contained some of the same footage as this one, but this 9-minute feature on houses Lannister & Baratheon is so cool that I had to post it. We get to see Charles Dance as Tywin, and also hear him speak a couple of lines, and the second time we see him he is outfitted magnificently in his full-plate armor. Awesome-o.

Episode 3 is called 'Lord Snow'.  I believe this title is a reference to the exclamation: "Winter is come!  The frozen water from the sky is now lord over us all!"

Here's a new preview that aired on HBO this past Sunday. Quite a lot of already-seen footage, but glimpses of a couple pivotal scenes that will be familiar to readers of the books.

In this video, some TV Chef talks about making foods based on the books for a promotion for the show.

It feels like you're really scraping the bottom of the preview barrel with that food video.

You wouldn't feel that way if you'd read the books. They're constantly serving delecatable delights like leeches and blood pie. Of course I can't watch the video at work, so I could be way off base. (but I'm not)

And horse flesh, don't forget alllllll the horse flesh.

Well, I'm sorry, Thursty, but I thought it was funny, and a little different than the stuff I'd posted previously. I guess having fun isn't allowed anymore, thanks to Thurston J McQ.

I thought fun wasn't allowed anymore because of Dalty's violently negative reaction to Horso.

Maybe he was stopping you from having fun, but then you had to go and pay the negativity forward.  Way to bring everyone down to your own level, Thursty.  My high school principal would not have approved.
