or "How RK Spent Her Weekend." Zombies, zombies & more zombies. As usual, I will keep the reviews relatively spoiler free.
Rented the remakes of "Dawn of the Dead" & "Day of the Dead". The original is always tough to beat in my book, so I try not to judge remakes by the standards of the original.
I really liked "Dawn of the Dead". Good characters, excellent zombies, and a decent story. Fairly star studded as these things go, and it's always fun to spot Tom Savini (can you find him? Hint: he's not a zombie). They spent some bucks on this one and it shows. Very good, seven thumbs up.
"Day of the Dead" was a little disappointing. In all fairness I have to say it has never been one of my favorite zombie scenarios to begin with. There is a great hospital sequence, the scariest part of the movie in my opinion. It comes pretty early on, making the next scariest thing about this movie is the speed with which victims can get infected and turn. There is a nice echo of the "Ben" character from the original, but overall I didn't really care if the characters made it or not.
"Diary of the Dead" was awful. You know it's not good when you're rooting for the zombies to eat just about every character they introduce you to. The movie did demonstrate how you may be surprised by just who will help you on Zombie Day and who will hurt you, I just wanted all these people dead ASAP.
Feel free to post your own comments on these movies, or any other zombie flick out there that you liked.
