Adam's Gas Price Roundup

Posted by Adam54 on Monday, March 7, 2011

I figured this was worthy of it's own thread, which I assume will be hijacked in due course. Post your local gas price, and if nothing else this'll be fun to look back at in a few months and say "Wow, $3.50. Those were the days."

I saw a range between $3.54 and $3.69 today. I'm assuming by the end of the week that will be a range of $3.69 to $3.85ish. Summer scares me.

How much is it near you?

Now dropped down to 3.69 in the past week.

Gas prices in our area dropped to about $3/gallon last week. I wonder if it was part of Obama's election strategy to drive down gas prices by releasing some of the government's reserves to the market and to give people the impression that things are looking up. Now that the election is over, I expect the price to go up to the $3.80 region, where it was just about a month or two ago.

I heard it was the east coast storm that was driving down the gas prices. I'm guessing because no one on the east coast was using gas.

Are people still without power over that side?

Pfft. The people on the east coast hold most of the power.

Dropped here to about $3.29 before the election, but now it's $3.35. Of course, now that I have my Volt I have to buy premium at $3.55. Since I've gone 900 miles since the last time I "filled up" (only to half full, about 4 gallons), I'm not broken up about that.

It's still at around $3.05 at the gas station what's closest to the closest Wal-Mart. The gas stations closest to Wal-Mart usually have the cheapest gas in town.

Just checked on-line, Mal. If you're willing to drive out to the Overland Conoco at 1910 Woodson Rd, you can get gas for $2.89 per gallon.

If you're unwilling to drive that far, the gas at the Sinclair on the corner of Hanley and Delmar is at $2.90.

Best just to go to Sinclair. The trip out to Overland would rob you of the pennies per gallon you'd be saving on the price of the gas.

Just jumped today from $3.35 to $3.55; luckily I filled up in the morning, pre-price jump.

Sadly, I can't take credit for the painting of Grandpa Seth. That was done by an artist called Steve Seeley (who turns out to be the same age as Goiter).

If you're not whitening, you're yellowing.

Since we're referring to Goiter, is it "whitening" or "widening"?

Welcome to Chicago: gas is $4/gallon. I can't wait until I get Sparky back out of storage.

Glad to have you back Adam.  You were missed.

I saw two stations across the street from each other on the way home.  One was $3.55, the other was $3.69.  Guess who's getting my business?

Turn your head and cough!

Ha! Thanks, Pal. Glad to see you're still around, Dr. Ake. I'll pop my head in from time to time. Especially after Dalty returns for his post vacation/pre next vacation check in and needs to be kept in line.

Love it when that happens with the stations across the street. What always fascinates me is when, instead of doing the smart business move and staying at $3.55, the station across the street goes "Ah shit, those guys went up!" and gets the big hook with the big numbers out to change it to $3.69. So odd.

Negs...Sparky isn't some kind of sex toy, is it? Because if it is I'll have ever so many follow up questions.

If it was a sex toy, it never would have been put in storage.

She recently moved from Detroit to Chicago though, so I'm assuming everything had to at least temporarily go into storage.
