Adam's Gas Price Roundup

Posted by Adam54 on Monday, March 7, 2011

I figured this was worthy of it's own thread, which I assume will be hijacked in due course. Post your local gas price, and if nothing else this'll be fun to look back at in a few months and say "Wow, $3.50. Those were the days."

I saw a range between $3.54 and $3.69 today. I'm assuming by the end of the week that will be a range of $3.69 to $3.85ish. Summer scares me.

How much is it near you?

Let us not forget that I grew up in Alabama.

Yeah, and I remember 'Airboat Rides' signs throughout trips to both Orlando and the Everglades. I also remember 'Gentle Ben' and have the back up of Hicks.

My position is pretty much mustard!

My arse did hurt afterwards and I am pretty sure that according to my watch 3 hrs had passed afterwards, even though they insisted it was only 45 minutes later.

jumped to 3.59, and almost immediately started dropping a penny a day. Down to 3.53 now, wonder how long that will last. Based on all the fear-mongering and impending summer travel, I expect it to be closer to 4 bucks soon.

apparently the oil companies decided that if people will accept 4 bucks a gallon, they might as well go for it. Dropped to 3.48, then shot up to 3.64 overnight.

That's nothing. I filled up at $3.53 a little over a week ago, and now it's at $3.99.

That's what you get for owning a Bimmer.

If I stick with 4x4 I might go for a Land Rover Discovery next, or a newer X5. If I go back to sports roadster it's a Merc SLK AMG or a BMW Z4.

Can't make up my mind. I love the practicality of bigger cars, but miss the fun of a 2 seater convertible. Plus the two-sealers are cheaper to run.

My next car is public transportation.

I use public transportation every day. Wouldn't be able to afford the nice car without public transportation taking me to the City every morning.

dropped to 3.59 in one day, guess the oil company decided it was too big of a jump

Rising oil prices present a significant risk to the fragile economic recovery. It would be a silly thing to do to start a war in, say, the Straits of Hormuz right now.

That's what I don't get. I anticipated the first jump last month based on Iran's saber rattling. Not sure why the latest jump other than I guess Prez's statements about Iran.

They jump the price because they can.  No more reason need be given.

Speculators in oil futures also push it.

jumped to 3.64 one week, and now to 3.79
Why? New war? Environmental Conditions? Speculation?
Who knows.....

Obama's solution is to raise taxes on the oil companies. See, he's fixing it!
